In the very capable hands of Sarah Leary who specialises in Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine experience the world without leaving Oxfordshire.

  • Asian: Discover the vibrant and diverse world of flavours and smells that is Asian cuisine, from Indian vegetarian to Sri Lankan; get ready to experience the flavours and twists of classic dishes that is certainly Sarah’s passion.
  • Italian: Ursula Ferrigno, author of over 20 books, is our resident Italian expert with a passionate and enthusiastic teaching style for all things Italian bread, pasta and vegetable related. Anyone who has been on one of her classes will know the feeling of energy and joy you feel for this food and culture after a couple of hours with Ursula!

Cooking on fire

Learn how to cook over fire pits in the beautiful setting of the Cart Shed in Preston Crowmarsh, Oxfordshire.

Baking classes

For the majority of our baking classes we use the fabulous kitchens at the Miele Experience Centre in Abingdon. Think of a bank of brand new ovens and then consider these types of classes:

  • Bread making – learn how to create artisan loaves for a fraction of the cost of bread from your local farmer’s market; from sourdough to focaccia, you will leave being confident that you can create this at home. Fear not, we have a dedicated WhatsApp group and hotline to your teacher so if you have any questions then we are here to help.
  • Patisserie – if you want to learn how to make exquisitely crafted choux buns or delicate macaroons, we have our popular beginners patisserie class to start you on your journey with confidence that you get the basics right. Then you might want to try a more advanced enriched doughs class and create effortlessly light croissant or fluffy brioches. We have something for everyone.

Here at the Jericho Kitchen we are huge advocates of healthy eating. We use the best quality locally grown vegetables from Worthy Earth’s no-dig allotment right here in Oxfordshire. For ingredients out of season, we use Natoora a company that specialises in working with farmers worldwide to bring food that has been grown with minimum intervention.

  • Healthy eating – this is something that we actively encourage throughout our classes.  We endeavour to create dishes that are fresh and uncomplicated, enabling you to replicate them at home.

What to expect from a cookery class at the Jericho Kitchen

When you book a cookery class with the Jericho Kitchen you can expect a well-organised and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Often people walk through the door not knowing any of the other attendees, but they often leave having made new friends – we encourage people to become part of our food loving community!

  1. Welcome and introductions: You will arrive and be welcomed by one of the team and offered tea/coffee/soft drinks and introduced to your fellow participants. Your teacher will explain how the class with run and then you are off to your tables.
  2. Hands-on cooking: Roll up your sleeves and get cooking. Our teachers may demo certain elements of some dishes, they will be at hand to guide you and you will all be preparing your own dishes in pairs.
  3. Tasting and feedback: After approximately 2-2.5 hours you will sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labour around our convivial long dining table. You can have time then to chat with your teacher and ask any questions that you might have gathering any information on where to obtain ingredients or just picking up any general cooking tips.

Choose the class: Select the class that you are interested in and see how many available spaces are left.
Book online: Just add your class to your basket and checkout. You will receive an automatic confirmation via the website and then we will email you again to thank you and check any allergies etc.

Get ready for the class: We will write to remind you a couple of days beforehand and send out recipe packs for you to keep for future reference.
