Do you love the idea of creating authentic Japanese recipes but struggle when it comes to ingredients?  We have put together the perfect class to get you going on your journey! 

The first part of this class with be all about learning how to get your cupboard ready with the necessary ingredients including miso, mirin, dashi – the Japanese stock that is the base to so many dishes, rice vinegar, bonito flakes and kombu.  Don’t worry you won’t need all these at first but we will send you notes out with all the information and where to buy it. 

Let Yukiko guide you how to make the following fusion dishes:

  • Coconut & Miso Soup – miso is a source of copper, manganese, vitamin K, protein, and zinc. The fermentation process means that miso is rich in enzymes so have many health benefits.
  • A classic – Chicken Katsu which is usually served with the sweet and savory tonkatsu sauce, finely shredded cabbage and cucumbers. You can eat it either with steamed rice or ramen. It is a comfort food widely popular in Japan.
  • A light asparagus salad with a Japanese twist – sliced asparagus, parboiled bean sprouts and smoked tofu salad with yuzu yogurt dressing – we just have to make the most of the delicious seasonal vegetable that is asparagus!

This beginner’s class is about making you feel comfortable with ingredients that maybe you have not used before and to ask as many questions to de-mystify Japanese cooking!
